What are the benefits of putting ice on the skin?

Yesterday I had a fall and injured my shin and knee. By inertia, I put ice on the wound to prevent it from inflaming. After a few seconds, I was curious as to why, as children, when we had an accident, our moms put ice on the wound. What is the function of ice? Why do we use it when we hurt ourselves?

The truth is that ice has anti-inflammatory properties, we already know that for sure. Ice is an ideal complement to regenerate and rejuvenate the skin. And what do I always repeat in my posts? Drinking water is vital for good internal and external health.

Now, let’s see what benefits the use of ice has on the face. In the East, ice is used as facial therapy. And the application consists of rubbing ice wrapped in a cloth for several seconds. It is recommended to do this step in the morning.

The advantages obtained from this are:

  • Improve blood circulation. A fundamental tip to avoid premature aging.

  • It fights acne, eliminates spots, wrinkles, and burns caused by the sun.

  • Prevents the appearance of blackheads and tightens pores.

  • Tones the face. And it reduces fine lines.

  • It is a de-inflammatory of course. Puffy eyes, dark circles, bumps, etc.

  • If your skin is dry, you should try this method.

Hot water makes the skin age faster because it dries it out. Instead, ice or cold water has a constricting effect on blood vessels for several seconds. When the cold is removed, the body itself sends a greater flow of warmer blood to the area. This makes the skin have more oxygenation.

Something that you should keep in mind is that the ice should not be applied directly to the skin and not for long. It should always be wrapped in a cloth. Or if your skin is very sensitive to cold, you can use a cloth dampened with cold water and that’s it.
