In recent years, the medical utility of the cannabis plant has transcended medicinal uses that were not so well known for decades. Until recently, cannabis has been constituted mainly as a remedy against pain and discomfort derived from diseases or treatments such as chemotherapy. However, recently research has been done that gives the active principles of cannabis numerous properties of great benefit for our skin and for our general health. This has led to many pharmaceutical companies incorporating it.

Regarding the use in cosmetics, the products whose formula incorporates cannabis, excludes its psychoactive element (THC) tetrahydrocannabinol. Instead, they take cannabidiol (CBD) as the active ingredient. This element has numerous medical applications and was already isolated in 1940 for the first time.

Besides the benefits in cosmetics, its health benefits extend to many areas. We find it as CBD oil and it is a natural alternative to classic analgesics and anti-inflammatories, helping to combat pain and inflammation.

But let’s see what CBD oil can do to our skin.

The benefits in cosmetics are due to its content of antioxidants, moisturizing properties, omega-3, omega-6, and vitamin E. It prevents skin aging, providing luminosity and hydration. Also, as I mentioned, its anti-inflammatory effect is ideal for skin with acne because even though it is an emollient, it is not greasy. It is also excellent for dull, dry and irritated skin. Stimulates hair growth, reduces hair loss, repairs nails, hair fiber and improves circulation and pain caused by varicose veins.

Although it has long been seen as a taboo, now with the medical studies carried out on CBD oil, we can be sure of its use and benefit from its properties
