Seborrheic dermatitis
Seborrheic dermatitis Have you ever wondered what are those red scaly spots that generally appear on the nape of the neck? These spots are ...
Alpha hydroxy acids are organic acids that help us to increase the thickness of the deepest layer of the skin that is the hypodermis, exfoliating and stimulating the formation of new collagen. These acids favor skin conditions such as acne, dry skin, blackheads, enlarged pores, in addition to giving an even tone to the skin, eliminating spots and irregular pigmentation. The AHAs have a function of renewing the skin naturally, eliminating dead cells leaving a smooth and uniform appearance, helps the other components of creams be absorbed to the inner layers, decreases the loss of water in the epidermis, therefore maintains hydrated skin, favoring dry skin. Since it stimulates collagen, it completely reduces wrinkles and folds, as it provides elasticity to the skin.
But in mature skin, this natural process becomes slower and less effective, thus causing a dull, dull-looking skin. These acids are the solution to that. Of these acids, there are 4 types and each one is found in different sources and with a different function. Let’s know them
Tartaric acid is obtained from apples and mainly from grapes or wine and this helps the skin to have that uniform tone, eliminating spots on the face caused by free radicals or UV rays or even those that appear with the age.It is also vital for healthy skin, as it has an alkaline effect that kills some types of bacteria that cause aging, this acid rejuvenates the skin from the inside to the outside. It keeps the body’s pH in balance, and the best thing is that it does not cause irritation or allergies. One more reason to have a glass of wine now and then.
Citric acid works more than anything as an antioxidant. Eliminating oxidative damage from free radicals and the sun, it also has the functionality of regulating the pH. When this acid is added to products that are dedicated to the skin, it makes them pleasant for all types of faces.
Lactic acid has a main function that is to deeply hydrate the skin. Which makes it a perfect ingredient for dry to extra dry skin, adding luminosity and reviving dull skin. It will leave you looking fresh all day. You can put it in places that are very dry on your body, such as heels.
Glycolic acid is obtained from sugar canes, grapes, apples, and oranges. Since it has a micro-molecular size, it penetrates the skin much faster and in a more effective way. Eliminates stains, especially those caused by the sun. Another of its functions is to accelerate the regeneration of cells, stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, thus giving a face without wrinkles or fine lines, helps to eliminate excess sebum on the face, erasing all traces of acne and scars.
Malic acid, which is also obtained from apples, accelerates skin metabolism, this is especially recommended for sensitive skin, improving its luminosity, smoothness and above all, its firmness. It is gentle on the skin, does not cause allergies and helps eliminate annoying wrinkles. It penetrates the deep layers of the skin and stimulates the production of collagen as well as the regeneration of cells, reducing the signs of aging.
Mandelic acid is extracted from almonds and it helps fight wrinkles. It has lightening, moisturizing, antibacterial functions, being this acid perfect for skin with acne problems. It is also an ally of spots, as it fades them, deeply hydrates the skin, promotes cell renewal and removes dead cells. This acid is also indicated for sensitive skin, as it is the mildest of the AHA family.
Experts recommend using products with AHAs at night, as these tend to take a little longer to absorb. But they can be used at any time of the day. Choose the one that best suits your skin, choose products that contain these ingredients and you will notice the difference in the short term.
