Know its differences and consequences

The human body is an amazing mechanism. Each thing was designed to develop a unique performance to the beat of others. On the whole. The body itself regenerates. It heals and protects itself. But today I want to talk to you about one thing in particular that the body produces when it is subjected to a danger or a condition.

The inflammation. Certain things happen in the body that precisely come from internal inflammation. For example, a new breakout of acne, or constant tiredness. Over the past few years, observations have been made in multiple studies looking at the inflammation process. Why? Well, because inflammation has been shown to be the root of many health problems, physical ailments, and of course, skin problems. A good understanding of how inflammation works and why it occurs would be the key to solving many puzzles about heart disease, and even cancer.


Let’s ask ourselves first, why does inflammation happen?

Sounds like a malicious thing, right? However, it is a type of natural body healing, which consists of keeping potential irritants out of the body. An inflammation happens when the body is put in danger. Being due to injuries or substances that the body considers not very pleasant. This causes the area to become inflamed so that no other irritant can enter and cause further damage. Great, right?

Allergens, bacteria, injuries, and foods can cause inflammation.  Have you ever hit yourself somewhere on your body? The area where you probably received the blow began to feel hot. And subsequently, it began to swell. Your body kicks in and wants to heal the wound as quickly as possible. It immediately triggers an inflammatory response. What starts to happen is that a large number of white blood cells, cytokines (infection fighters) and immune cells go to the area where you have been hit.


This is how the healing process begins. And because so many fluids are concentrated in the same area, inflammation occurs. Now, let’s talk about why inflammation affects our skin. The stroke just described is an example of the type of acute inflammation. The good kind that protects. This same type of acute inflammation also occurs internally when food poisoning occurs. The body quickly tries to eliminate the toxin and it regularly disappears after a few days.

On the other hand, it is chronic inflammation that wreaks lasting havoc on the body. Instead of disappearing after a few days, it continues to the point where there is nothing left to avoid or cure. As the body turns, it turns on itself and attacks the internal organs. Cells that are healthy and tissues. The real problem with this type of chronic inflammation is that a person who suffers from them does not realize that it is happening. And if this lasts for a long time, diseases can develop later.

But, there are signals that the body sends and that you should pay attention to. It is still in the middle of the eye to know if the inflammation occurs as a result of different conditions or if it is something accidental that happens. What we do know is that the causes of inflammation differ in people. Some can be influenced by genetics, while others by your environment and lifestyle.

The environmental factors that develop chronic inflammation are pollution, and exposure to sunlight. When I say lifestyle and bad habits, the ones I want to emphasize the most are smoking, bad eating habits, like overeating things with a lot of sugar and saturated fat. Drinking excessively and, the worst enemy of all, stress.


Symptoms of chronic inflammation:

  • Mild body pain
  • Digestive problems
  • Fatigue
  • Tiredness
  • Acne
  • Skin irritation
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Dryness
  • Rosacea
  • Sensitive skin
  • Joint pain


In fact, your skin is the most important tool for knowing if you are experiencing chronic inflammation. I’ll give you an example:

When you expose yourself to the sun without using sunscreen, the area that was exposed becomes red and inflamed. If this goes away in a short time, then it will be an acute inflammation. But, if the same thing happens, and instead, inflammation or redness does not happen but over time you start to see spots, wrinkles or fine lines, this is a chronic inflammation. The same happens when exposed to environmental factors or whatever product you may be using. Prolonged exposure to irritants ends up damaging the skin’s fibroblasts, which are responsible for producing collagen and elastin.

It also depends on what you put into your body. If your eating style is sugars and irritants, well, we already know what will happen. Signs of chronic inflammation can appear as a simple acne breakout or even eczema.

What can you do to help reduce inflammation of your skin?

  • Use products that stimulate collagen production and protect your skin bar.
  • Use a moisturizer with soothing actives like lavender, aloe vera, or chamomile.
  • Never stop using sunscreen.
  • Always keep your skin hydrated. It’s fundamental. Drink enough water.
  • Lastly, eat well. Foods that are rich in antioxidants and that do not harm your body. Say goodbye to sugars and sweets.

Remember that you must rest. Stress is a very powerful enemy that ends up damaging any part of your body. Get a good night’s sleep, at least 8 hours without interruptions.
